Fall Tablescape Inspiration
With autumn rapidly approaching, have you begun to wonder how you can decorate elegantly without spending all of your summer’s hard-earned money? Luckily, we’re here to help!
Collaborating with the inimitable JoPhoto and The Bride Link, our goal for this shoot at Dara’s Garden was to show how to achieve an elegant Thanksgiving or Harvest tablescape for fall using easy and affordable DIY elements. We wanted to make the gorgeous tablescapes seen on the front of Pottery Barn and Country Living attainable for the everyday person without skyrocketing their costs.
Minus Event Rentals by Rothchild’s china and flatware, vintage furniture from Restoration Rentals, and Melissa Timm Designs‘ lovely floral centerpiece, everything seen on the tablescape was purchased at The Dollar Tree or a craft store. A variety of metallic spray paints was the key to turning the once wooden candlesticks and orange pumpkins into an elegant array of upscale and striking fall decorations. We purchased the sorbet bowls from a dollar store and finished off the tablescape with a little moss and foliage (easily found from a backyard–nature is an excellent place to find your design elements). Lastly, the old hutch was filled with some our favorite autumn wedding favors from Custom Love Gifts, Events, and Prints’ Esty shop.
When, eventually, the photos were published in American Farmhouse Style Magazine, our original mission statement for designing this shoot was proven in print: stunning decor CAN be created on a budget with a little creativity, a vision, and lots and lots of metallic spray paint!
