Throwback Blog: Why Should I Hire A Wedding Planner?

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

We were so excited when Zola reached out to us asking if we could write a blog about why engaged couples should hire a wedding coordinator, and we thought this would be the perfect opportunity to revisit our previous blog all about this topic! Enjoy!

A full-service wedding planner acts as the captain of your wedding planning cruise.  Some brides prefer to cruise solo during the planning process, but they still need someone to coordinate things during the event.  If you don’t want a full service planner, make sure you don’t go without a wedding coordinator, also know as a Day of Planner.

The Wedding Coordinator

A wedding coordinator will be in charge of the logistics throughout the day and can address overlooked details and manage any snafus before it affects the flow of the event. Expect your coordinator to help you create and manage a timeline, be the liaison between vendors, coordinate both the rehearsal & ceremony, and oversee the logistics of the reception. A typical coordinator will spend 25-30 hours working on your event, and fees can vary depending on experience and expertise. Some coordinators also offer Week of Planning services that include taking care of a ton of last minute details. If you can’t afford a wedding coordinator, you must have at least one responsible person amongst your friends or family act as one. The easiest way to ruin your actual wedding day is to be in charge of the event while you are supposed to be the guest of honor.

Below is an example of our own wedding Day of Coordination package:

Day of Coordination

Once the day you have planned for has finally arrived, make sure you can enjoy it! Let a professional coordinator with an on-site assistant keep your personalized timeline, manage set-up, time entrances, disperse final vendor payments, create a reception layout, direct guests, and solve problems. We will work with you starting 2-3 months prior to your event to guide every detail toward perfection. Includes an on-location consultation, up to ten hours of on-site direction with a coordinator and assistant, and one-hour rehearsal prior to event.

I did not have a wedding planner for my wedding, and I was so stressed out throughout the entire day. I remember during my first dance thinking about who was going to cut my cake and when I was supposed to throw the bouquet instead of enjoying the moment.

We understand that people may sometimes feel nervous about adding another vendor to their wedding budget, but the reward far outweighs the risk. After all, you use a wedding company like Zola to streamline your registry and relieve some stress in the planning process–why not treat yourself to the same ease on your wedding day? Hiring a day of coordinator makes the day run smoothly, and takes you from event manager to guest of honor.
